Horizon Zero Dawn’s PS4 release
date is just around the corner. It will be unveiled on February 28. The
stunning PS4 exclusive features a huge open-world with a thriving ecosystem
made up of robotic beasts. Horizon Zero Dawn represents an open-world
role-playing game steeped in mythology and set in a world post-apocalypse where
humans are primitive and tribal and the land is filled with grazing herds of
mechanical animals.
A society with a foggy past and
an uncertain future is truly lost; such is the reality for the denizens of the
world of Horizon Zero Dawn. The game takes the player 1000 years back when
tribal communities used to live and the areas is surrounded by mysterious
high-tech fossils. How the world ended up in disarray isn't clear at first, but
Aloy, an orphaned outcast who locates an advanced communications and analysis
device, holds the key to unlocking these mysteries. Using her new found tool, Focus,
player can tap into techno-artefacts and glean info about the past. The duelling
themes of nature and technology are present in Aloy, who's forever changed when
she accepts technology into her otherwise primitive life. She transforms in so
many ways throughout her journey, and it's amazing to look back when all is
said and done, reflecting on not just the awesome challenges player will
overcome, but also on how much confidence and maturity Aloy's gained in the
process.
Co-Founder & Managing
Director of Guerrilla Games, Hermen Hulst said to Co.Create, “I’ll be honest with you. There were moments
when we were making this game where we weren’t sure we were going to be able to
pull it off”. He also added, "We
wanted to do something new, so we reached out to the entire team and asked for
pitches. It was way outside our comfort zone. It was just too many things we
hadn’t done before."
After wrapping up Horizon: Zero
Dawn, Killzone series developer Guerrilla Games is now working on a new game. According
to the leading Dutch newspaper, Parool.nl, a new Killzone game is being worked
on by Guerrilla’s Amsterdam studio (the main studio that made the original
Killzone games, as well as Horizon) and the news has been reported on
PlayStation Universe.
